Following a court hearing on May 6, 2019, Ken Rosenfeld, Attorney for Sharon Simas, speaks to the press.
“This case is extraordinarily complex with a tremendous amount of layers, and all the parties are diligently working in the court. At the end of the day, the Judge has to accept and approve any plea, and given the complexity of this case and, of course, the high-profile nature of it, every T needs to be crossed, and every I needs to be dotted, and not that that’s not done in every case, but this case has a higher degree of importance and a higher degree of light shined on it than 99% of the cases in this courtroom. Given the complexity of all the material, we’re coming back next week and we’ll see what happens.”
The former Stockton, California Mayor Anthony Silva and his former executive assistant, Sharon Simas, faced several charges including embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, and money laundering from the Stockton Boys and Girls Club.
“At the end of the day, when all the paperwork is done and the math is done, it’s going to be very clear that Sharon Simas never took a dime. She would never take a dime,” said Rosenfeld, Simas’ attorney.
